ERHS Indians

Hello Students and Parents! I am Coach Brown. I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. In addition to being the middle school counselor, I am also an assistant coach for the middle school football team and baseball team. This is my third year as a middle school counselor at East Robertson and I am very excited to begin a new year. Before becoming a school counselor, I was a special education aide for students in self-contained classroom, as well as for students in a transitional classroom setting. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2008 from Freed-Hardeman University. I have worked at a child abuse prevention agency and with an in-home counseling agency. Knowing that I wanted to help students work through everyday problems, I began my graduate work in school counseling two years later at the same university. Now, here I am, doing what I love to do!

What do I do in my free time?

I like to do many things such as watch sports (particularly St. Louis Cardinals Baseball) and go hiking, camping, kayaking, and geocaching. Generally speaking, I typically like anything that will get me outside. Don't get me wrong though, I enjoy my indoor activities as well...watching tv, reading a book, or most likely surfing the World Wide Web (also known as the Internet).

What you absolutely positively need to know about me...

I am dedicated to make your middle school years some of the best in your life. I want you all to realize the value of your self-worth and be successful in school so that later in life, you can be happy, productive citizens of the community. Rise to and exceed your potential. Dream big! Set short and long-term goals. Work hard. Study hard. Play hard. Help each other. Remember, life is all about making choices. School isn't always going to be easy; you don't have to make it harder by making poor choices. Make good ones instead.

Please know that you are welcome to come talk to me at any time between classes, at lunch, or if you have your teacher's permission. Always let your teachers know where you are going if you need to see me.  If I am not in my office, feel free to leave a note in my box on my door explaining why you need to see me and I will get back to you as quickly as I can.

Parents, you can contact me during school by phone 615-654-4510 or by e-mail: john.brown@rcstn.net
